Sony is working on contact lenses that can record videos and take pictures with blink of an eye. They have recently tested the prototype contact lenses which can record video. However, they are worried about the idea of this product with competitor companies.
This new technology of Sony is able to capture, record and playback which makes it similar yet very different to all other lens ever made. With its distinctive features- this contact lens is bound to grasp the attention of millions of users around the world.
Sony with ithis new technology is looking forward to protect its product form cheaters and idea-thieves. Sony has applied for patenting of its smart contact lens which is comparable with smart contact lens of Samsung.
The application was sent to US Patent and Trademark Office. The request is underway.
Sony is now following the footsteps of Google and Samsung.
Google launched a lens project which is focusing on making a lens which will monitor glucose levels. Samsung has also filed a patent in Korean Patent Office. Their technology makes it possible for the user to take pictures through blinking their eyes. This happened three weeks ago.
The smartest thing about the lens is – that it takes pictures when the lens feels that the user is intentionally blinking their eyes. The in-build storage capacity makes it different from Samsung’s technology.
It’s additional feature includes a “tilt sensor” which helps to focus and stabilised the image which may be blurred.
“The contact lens according to each embodiment of the present disclosure has an image pickup function and performs predetermined image pickup control in accordance with blinking or the like of a user,” Sony’s patent application reads. “This makes it possible to make an intelligent contact lens, thereby remarkably improving usability.”
The patent date of Sony’s contact lens is May 2, 2015 which means that Sony has been working on this project since a long time.
